Questions for Your Mortgage Adviser or Lender
A mortgage is a significant financial commitment. We do not recommend mortgage products or assess affordability. Take questions about borrowing and your personal circumstances to your lender or an FCA-authorised mortgage adviser, and check the firm’s permissions if you need advice.
- What mortgage amount and monthly payment are you assessing, and what assumptions are included?
- What interest rate, initial period and follow-on rate apply, and when could the payment change?
- What fees, valuation costs, early repayment charges or other conditions should I understand?
- How could the mortgage offer be affected if the valuation, survey or purchase price changes?
- What deposit evidence and source-of-funds documents will be required?
- If I am using an ISA, Lifetime ISA or another savings scheme, what eligibility, withdrawal, timing or bonus rules should I confirm with the provider and conveyancer?
- How long is the offer valid, and what happens if completion is delayed?
- What protection or insurance products are optional, and who is authorised to advise me about them?
- What should I do if my income, circumstances or the property changes before completion?
- Who can I contact to discuss the illustration and suitability in detail?
Do not rely on a home surveyor or this website to tell you which mortgage to choose. Check the adviser or firm using the FCA Firm Checker.
We survey throughout the listed service areas. The property postcode determines the applicable rate; property suitability and scope are reviewed before instruction.
